Not that I actually went anywhere. But my friend Kristen was here for the weekend, which is the equivalent of a much needed mental vacation for me, so I haven't been around here in internet land. Unless sitting next to Kristen while leaving each other myspace comments counts. Ah, good times.
Kristen is one of my best friends in the world, one of those we-were-separated-at-birth friends. We met online when we were both planning our weddings. She only lived a few hours away from me in Ohio then, and used to come up and visit at least once a month. She was at my wedding. We have stalked Counting Crows together. She was here the Christmas morning that I found out I was pregnant. And knew before Kory did. When he was still asleep and I was sitting on the computer and she grogily looked up from the couch and I gave her a thumbs up and a big smile. She has pictures of Celia all over her desk at work. We love the same books and the same music and hate the same politicians. And it's refreshing to spend time with one of the few people who totally gets you.
Kristen moved back home to Arizona just before Celia was born, and she's been out to visit every 8 months or so since then. It's not often enough, and the time we have to hang out when we are together is never long enough, but we make do. At least we have this uber wonderful thing called the internet to keep us connected inbetween, and that brought us together in the first place.
So, it was a good weekend. We did pretty much nothing, which is the best thing to do with good friends. We ate at our favorite mexican restaurant. Geeked out and networked our laptops and shared some new music (shhh. I never download free music, but sharing with friends? It's all fair game. I still spend more on music every month than most people. And I only have a few friends. Hahahaha). And tried to avoid the miserable heat (which, as Kristen would be quick to point out, is *not* a dry heat). Celia was a bit of a goofball in front of her. Coming out of her shell more all the time. We walked to the park. Talked a lot. Didn't sleep until it was light outside. Listened to a lot of music. Just chilled. Perfect weekend.
So now back to reality and deadlines and life as usual. Until 2 weeks from now when my best friend is home from Chicago. Hate this part of growing up, friends flung around the country. But you take what you can get, and enjoy the hell out of it, and look forward to next time.
Happy long weekend, everyone!

So much fun... sounds like weekends spent with my California buddy Karan... we stamp, we *ahem* drink 'n' stuff, we have a great time. Gee, thanks... now I feel all lonely 'n' crap.
Glad you had a wonderful weekend!

One of my best friends was recently in town and we mostly did nothing in the short time we had to visit... and that's the best feeling in the world. So glad you were able to visit with your friend : )
Curious--how much space is left on your iPod? You seem like a fellow music junkie... we're under 6 gb left on a 60 gb iPod... eeeeek. Though that includes a whole lot of CDs imported into iTunes before we started buying everything digitally...
